![]() Remote access to Department systems is allowed via SSH secure shell only. There is no telnet, FTP, or other access; all ports but 22 are closed to the outside. William and Mary has a site license for SSH Secure Shell Client, available for download from IT's website. Installation and configurations instructions are on the same web page. An alternative to SSH Secure Shell Client is putty, which is also freely available and is quite small in size. Note that you will need a running X server to display remote graphics through putty. A map of the 121 lab, labeling each machine by name and IP address, is available here. If you do not have a desktop machine assigned to you, connect to one of these when working remotely. |
