Overall we were lucky in Hurricane Isabel. We didn't have a tree inside our house and were only out of power for about 80 hours (in the first third of people in Williamsburg to get power back). But it still took a lot of work to clean up some of the mess.
Here are some images of our house Friday morning after the hurricane.
Prior to the hurricane, there would have been nothing but trees in this shot
Most of the damage was on the side of the house. The hardest part was a 6 inch beech branch suspended 12 feet up in the air. The work on this day inspired me to buy a nice Stihl instead of this borrowed saw.
After a bit over a week, this is what everything looked like. Hopefully we'll get someone to take down these leaners before they fall into the house. We're being told it will take four more weeks.
