12/10:
- I am now available for questions regarding the final:
Mon. 10-12 and 2-4, and Tue. 10-12.
- A reminder: The final is open-notes, open-homework, and open-textbook.
It is tomorrow afternoon 1:30 -- 4:30 in our regular classroom in Morton.
- The solution keys to homework 12 can be found on the assignments page.
12/06:
- Part 4 of the project (thus the entire project) is due midnight.
Start working on your report when the memory is still fresh. Refer
to the project page for ideas. The report is due on Monday, 12/10,
at noon, in my office.
- HW 12 is due in class at 11:00 am.
12/04:
- The submission deadline for part 4 of the project has been extended
to Thursday (12/06) midnight.
- Daniela has graciously agreed to add an office hour on Wednesday from
5:30 to 6:30. So the TA office hours for the next few days will be:
Thomas 6:00-9:00 on Tuesday, Daniela 5:30-6:30 on Wednesday and Thursday.
11/29:
- Homework 12 is now available online. Notice the due date is
Thursday, December 6.
11/20:
- Homework 11 is now available online. Notice the due date is
Thursday, November 29.
- Part 3 of the project has been graded. You will receive your
grade and comments via email from Daniela. The test program used
in grading and the correct output can be found on the project page
for you to download to reproduce the errors in your programs.
- I have posted a sample test program that you may use to test
your algorithms for the closest pair problem. Please go to the
project page to download the program.
11/13:
- Homework 10 is now available online.
11/06:
- Homework 9 and part 4 of the project (with a test program to follow
later) are now available online.
- Thomas will have extended office hours from 5:00 to 10:00 today for
anyone who needs last-minute help.
10/30:
- Homework 8 is now available online.
10/23:
- Homework 7 is now available online.
- Part 2 of the project has been graded. You will receive your
grade and comments via email from Daniela. The test program used
in grading and the correct output can be found on the project page
for you to download to reproduce the errors in your programs.
10/16:
- Part three of the project is now available online.
10/09:
- Homework 6 is now available online. Note that it is due on 10/23,
two weeks after today because of the Fall Break.
- There are TAs in the lab in the next three days: today 6-9 (Thomas),
Wednesday 5:30-6:30 (Daniela), and Thursday 5:30-6:30 (Daniela).
10/02:
- Homework 5 is now available online.
- A reminder: The in-class midterm is scheduled on Thursday, 10/11.
The exam is open-book and open-notes.
- Daniela's office hour on Thursday (10/04) has been moved to
next Wednesday (10/10)
at the same time. Please go to see her for helps with the project.
09/25:
- Homework 4 is now available online.
- Part 1 of the project has been graded and you will receive your
grade from Daniela via email. The test program that was used in the grading
has been posted on the project page. For questions about the grading, see
Daniela during her Thursday office hour.
- Thomas' office hours tonight have been cancelled. To make up the lost time,
he will extend his office hours next Tuesday, 5pm--10pm. This is a good
opportunity to get some help for part 2 of the project.
09/18:
- Part one of the project is due midnight tonight.
- Part two of the project is now available online.
- Homework 3 is now available online. Wait until after Thursday's
class to do problem 2.
09/11:
- The office hours tonight have been cancelled.
- The class today has been cancelled. Let us remember this dark day in
the history of mankind.
- Please make an effort to turn in HW1 today. But due to this special
situation, I will accept homework turned in by Thursday in class.
- Homework 2 is now available online.
09/06:
- A sample makefile has been posted on the project page. You may
use it to compile and link your programs.
09/04:
- Part one of the project is available online.

- Homework 1 is available online.
TA info: Lei Guo (lguo), Mon 16:30-17:30 in McGl 121.
- Since the system in McGl 020 is separated from the main system in
the CS department, an account in 020 does not provide access to the
computers in McGl 121. To obtain an account in 121, use "newuser" as
your login name and follow instructions from there.
08/30:
- The first part of the project will be availabe on 09/04. To get started,
go to the project page to find out more about the project: the four parts
of the project, how they will be graded, and rules to follow. Then follow
the four warm-up steps suggested to prepare for your project.
