Prospective Students

Graduate Students

I am always looking for self-motivated PhD and Masters students who are interested in security, particularly as relates to operating systems and distributed systems. My research requires strong, low-level, software development skills, as well as basic knowledge of applied cryptography. If you are interested in pursuing research with me, please:

  1. Apply to William & Mary's computer science graduate program.
  2. In your application's statement of purpose, mention my name as your preferred advisor.

Note that a committee in the CS department collectively reviews applications and makes admission decisions; I cannot directly hire and admit students. In general, the department funds PhD students as TAs for their first three semesters; after that time, an advisor funds the student as an RA.

You are welcome to reach out to me via e-mail. Please use the subject line Prospective Graduate Student, and tell me why you want to engage in research with me and what topics you want to pursue.

Undergraduates

The best way to do research with me is to take my undergraduate course (CSCI 415, preferably before your senior year) and make a good impression.
